Zoo near Minehead?

We are off to Butlins in Minehead in a few weeks and its kind of a 'tradition' that we go to a zoo on our holidays - can anyone tell me if there is a good one nearby?

There's Exmoor Zoological Gardens - which is erm, on Exmoor, not too far away as far as I remember. It's a small zoo but it's fun, you can hold the creatures and everything (spiders and cockroaches).

Hang on I'll find a link...

link

It's 30 miles away from Minehead on the coastal road (pretty road, but goes up Porlock Hill, a notorious 1 in 4 hill, or there is a toll road.).

Oh yes, the spiders and cockroaches are a real draw...

There are birds, monkeys and other creatures iirc.

Thank you very much.

Or Bristol Zoo which would be about an hour.

Paignton Zoo is a bot further but lovely, or there is Cricket St Thomas (former home of Mr Blobby)not too far away. Bristol Zoo is nice but more gardens than animals.

Have you thought about Longleat? It is a bit of a trek but well worth a visit.
