Any recommendations for a family holiday in Spain or Greece?

I am looking for a nice holiday in August for the three of us (DS aged 5). It has to be near a sandy beach.
Near good restaurants that serve local food i.e, not lots of burger/chips/pizza places.
Not anywhere near rowdy 18-30 year old clubbing scene. Just a fun family friendly resort. I don't mind self catering, but would prefer a lovely hotel with a great restaurant that serves good food.
And definitely not anything like that TV program "Benidorm" - package holiday hell, with enforced entertainment.
It would be nice if DS had some places to go but he is not really into theme park rides - more likes adventure playgrounds, swimming, etc.
So any ideas/links would be welcome please!

I would recommend the following resorts..

Puerto Pollense, Majorca (our favourite)
Nerja, Spain
Lagos, Algarve

Cannot recommend hotels as we always go self catering (like to put kids to bed in their own bedroom and then have the evening to relax in peace!)

Second vote for Puerto Pollensa (altho I prefer Pollensa in the evenings for a fab meal in the square).

For Greece, try Parga on the mainland (fly to Preveza) and Lefkas. We are off to Afitos in Halkidiki this year which is supposed to be typically Greek - it has a preservation order on the town so nothing naff can be built .

Hi

My dad has an absolutely beautiful townhouse in Spain. It is his retirement investment, and the problems with the property market in Spain is well documented, so he is not looking to make a profit from bookings just to cover the mortgage payments long term- which is why it is only £225 a week! Lindos in rhodes is beautiful although very very hot. The beach there is fabulous. I also enjoyed cyprus, stayed in pernera bay near protaras. Personally found protaras to be too built up and commercialised but there are some smaller resorts on the outskirts. Good luck x
