My sister, her dh and 6 year old dd are coming to stay for a few days and we'd all like to go somewhere we've not been before. All 3 girls love petting farms like Whitepost and watching outdoor shows like the jousting at Camelot, but mostly they love running around together and the older two are getting more adventurous wanting rides and adventure playground.
In fact I think I've answered my own question as my dd 7 is also desperate to try ice skating - Twinlakes seemms to have it all Have any of you been to all 3, which would you recommend?

have only been to Twinlakes but I thought it was great for that age

have been to twycross several times and twinlakes most weekends these days - bought a season ticket, it is fab! Go early, it will keep you busy all day and there is plenty indoors if the weather is bad. Twycross is a nice enough zoo but nowhere near as much to do there.

The ice skating is only a plastic imitation rink though, not the real thing in case your dd has this in mind!

Not even heard of twinlakes.

Twycross - OK if you like monkeys - I thought it was quite run down and would prefer not to go back.

Conkers is great for a sunny day (although lots to do inside too) - loads of things to do particularly running around. A nice lady in the queue pointed to a stack of local activity guides in the entrance that had a discount voucher in. I would love to go back.

I would say twinlakes with that age group - and head straight to the "Labyrinth" when you get there. It is the best bit IMO but furthest from the enterance so you get there late in the day if you don't head straight there. It is a little "tatty round the edges" but perfectly functional. Kids will love it. Take a picnic. Food not cheap and a bit greasy spoon. We can easily spend 6hrs there with 2 8yos and a 3yo. (I think it is only open 6hrs)

Twycross - fine if you like monkeys. Nothing to "do" other than look at animals (mostly monkeys). 3-4hrs at best.

Conkers. Only been once. Was a school trip. I failed to see teh attraction - but may only have seen a small fraction of what's there IYSWIM.

Snibston also worth considering - although 3yo probably a but young for it.

Thanks for all your help. I am swayed by twinlakes coz there seems so much more to do. I've looked at Conkers website but can't really get what's there to keep everyone happy all day other than the play area.
It's supposed to be lovely and sunny on friday do you think it will be jam packed with queues everywhere?
Ice Skating rink is plastic! Do you still have ice skates with a blade then? How does that work?

Never done the ice skating.

Twinlakes doesn't have too much to queue for. There are some fairgroundy rides - but there is so much to do which doesn't require queing so the queses don't get too bad IME (although it is the outside stuff which is for queuing - if you want be outside).
