we are going for a holiday and have booked a hire car and they say we need to have a credit card. Well we do have a card but we don't know the pin number as we only really use it online. Do we need to get a pin reminder or not? We went to cyprus and used the card but they use signatures usually

TIA

I've always had to sign for things at my mum's in Spain - remember you'll need another form of ID to use a credit card such as your passportas well.

No, they don't use chip and pin, but you will need to have your passport as well as ID when using any card anywhere.

Sorry, that sounds like passport PLUS ID. I meant passport as a form of ID. Do you see what I mean?

thanks - that's really helpful - we'll have our passports and photo driving licenses. You put my mind at rest now - thanks x

It does depend on the shop, some make you give your pin and sign! I don't think that will be the case for car hire though.

In Spain last year they were using chip and pin AND wanting a signature and sight of you passport too in some shops.

Shops always require photo id when paying by card.

oh - maybe i should request a pin reminder then ?
