Yorkshire coast...Which beaches are dogs allowed on?

Fancy a day out this week but want to take the dog. Whitby? Filey? Scarborough? Do any allow dogs?

I was sure I had seen dogs being walked on Scarborough South Bay beach - then found this on council website

"The council operates seasonal dog bans on five of its beaches (Scarborough North Bay, Scarborough South Bay, Filey, Whitby and Sandsend) throughout the summer (1 May to 30 September). At other times and on other beaches you are free to take your dog."

So it was obviously during the winter!

I think they usually allow dogs at either end but not in the middle in summer. This was certainly the case in Filey when my gran lived there but she moved away 4 years ago so this may have changed.

Oh thanks for the replies...so don't think we can take the dog? Grrr, shame.
