Great day trips with kids 2 & 5yrs??? Need inspiration for this weekend!

Hi,

I'm in need of suggestions on day trips for this weekend (possible overnight ok too). We'd like to get out of London for a change but also want the kids to be happy. We can travel by car and havn't seen much of the UK outside of London.

Your help is much appreciated!

Which side of London are you?
I am more familiar with the south side of London and Kent etc.
I really like Hever Castle, went recently and the kids had a ball. There is a water maze where you are bound to get wet so take spare clothes. Also good play area and nice grassed areas. Take a picnic.
Leeds Castle also good.
Godstone Farm (junction 6 M25) is a lovely farm with animals and great play areas.
Brighton good for a day trip, though if weather is good will be a nightmare to get into on a bank holiday weekend. train service good from Victoria and London Bridge.

Whipsnade zoo is brilliant.
