Ideas for entertainment on 10hr flight for 2yo and 6mo please!!!

We're going on a 10 hour flight with dd (2) and ds (6mo) and I'm starting to get a little nervous about keeping them occupied & relatively quiet during the flight.

Dd is very active and noisy & was a handful when we did this trip when she was 5mo! So I was wondering if I anyone could suggest any good things to pack to try and keep her entertained. We have requested bulkhead seats and a cot so hopefully ds will get some sleep!

Medised?

The thought did occur to me! But I think we'd need industrial strength tranquillisers

Take a handbag full of lots of little bits that she can delve into and explore.

Wrap lots of little presents up in layers of paper, so that she has the excitement of unwrapping them all (and take a plastic bag for the rubbish afterwards!).

Colouring pencils and paper.
Stickers and sticker book.

Lots of little snacks to eat.

An ipod full of cartoons!

Ooooh, I can go shopping for an ipod tomorrow then! Dh might not thank you for that suggestion especially as dd needs more new shoes - she's growing....

But the other suggestions sound great!

Was going to suggest same like csws
My friend go to America and she got her DS a little rucksack with things it in, books, crayons, little mini magnadoodle thing, few small cars etc. So girls would be simular but girle bits, especially my little pony where they can brush and clip hair or those pet shop things where they can attach them to things etc. Sticker books are fab, got one for dd when we went on the train when she was 2. It was a huge one which had loads of stickers and you had to make scenes with them which was not just fun for her
I got her a fifi back pack and the novelty of them having their own bag is great.
In Early Learing they do those aqua draw mats which are fab, just fill the pen with water and colour pic and then it dries up so you can colour again, usually 4 in a box.
Also facepaint so when your DH is alseep DD can attack him hahaha!!!

Oh and you can get playdoh strips which are great too as can be squished flat, just remember to wrap back up as it goes hard, or just chuck it!

smellen · 20/05/2009 22:15

Crayola paint pens. They're fab.
Playdough.
sticker books
storybooks
crayons/paper/colouring in book

Your LO will probably just feed, poo and sleep - business as usual.

don't forget wipes, disposable bibs, snacks/water

little raisin boxes
cheerios on a string necklace - takes them a while to eat them!
spare change of clothes for them and also a spare top or whatever for you.

Ekka · 20/05/2009 22:49

Wow, thanks everyone - plenty of ideas here! I'm going to bed now, but please keep them coming! I'm making a nice long list to collect/buy in preparation .
