Has any one any experiance of this place. MIL has booked us a week away there and I was wondering how we would be with 3 DC (7.6, 3.11, 2.2). Is there lots to do, what is the beach like, the pool, the surrounding area?

Any tips would be greatfully recieved.

his any good for starters?
plus there's Tenby nearby, pendine in the opposite direction.

MrsGokWan · 19/05/2009 14:46

Thanks for the reply and the link. The place does look nice on the website. I was hoping someone may have had personal experiance of the place as although it looks nice on the web the truth may be different.

I grew up in North Pembrokeshire and will say that Tenby always had a great reputation for Beach weekends.
Folly farm is nearby as well, Heatherton adventure park is very good too.
When are you thinking of going?

MrsGokWan · 19/05/2009 16:02

We are booked in August 1st for a week.

Will Google Folly Farm and Heatherton later. Thanks for the tips.

Folly Farm looks fun, something for all of them and not to bad price wise either.

Heatherton looks like it is more for the 7 year old. Might get DH to take him for a little father/son bonding.

Thanks for the ideas.

OMG, I went there once as a kid myself! I loved it. I don't know if it's changed much since then, but when I went, there wasn't actually much to do in the immediate vicinity of the grounds - other than the beach, or coastal path that is (both great). I think there was a row of buildings further down the road that included a pub and maybe a little shop or two.

I recall visiting Tenby (fantastic beaches). Ooh and Caldy Island I think is off there isn't it? You get to it by boat (very exciting for a child), and when I went there the only inhabitants were monks who made a living making chocolate and selling it to tourists!!! (was very nice choc too!)

I have always loved British seaside holidays like that - all rock pools and walking along the coastal path. We have taken our kids to Devon and Cornwall the past few years but was thinking of making a change to the Tenby area at some point.

I'd love to know what Amroth Castle is like now - let me know!

CurlyhairedAssassin · 19/05/2009 23:59

I meant there wasn't much to do once you got out of the grounds by the way.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/05/2009 00:00

You'd need a car to explore properly I mean.

God I've got all excited - the memories of that place have come flooding back after seeing that website. Had forgotten all about it.

Will probably go into Tenby one day to.

We usually go to Weymouth and Cornwall so this is a departure for us.

We will be in our people carrier, affectionatly known as the bus, so that we can get the 7 of us to different places.

I will try and remember to post a review when we get back.

We live in Pembrokeshire and love Amroth and surrounding area - Saundersfoot and Tenby are favourites for 'Holiday Days'. - try Fecci's fish and chip shop in Tenby.

Folly Farm is a must do for a day out - all your kids will love it - even pretty good on rainy days as they have an excellent indoor play area - we are season ticket holders!

Hope you have a wonderful time in Pembrokeshire - I love it here!

Beachmum, thank you so much for your reply.

Me thinks I can stop worrying now and look forward to a wonder, relaxed holiday.
