Card games to play with children

What games did you used to play when you were children? I used to entertain myself for hours with playing cards but can't remember any exept for snap and the pairs game! Does anyone remember a game were you played solo, setting out the cards in a circle?
I have a 10yr and 8yr old, and thinking ahead to our hols in two weeks, which is a caravan holiday in Barry Island - hence looking for things to do if its wet!!
Appreciate any ideas............

The circle game is 'clock'. I still love that! Theres also patience. Both of those can be played by one person.

For two children, how about 'Chase the lady', where you don't want to end up with the Queen of Spades or '3 of 1, 4 of the other' (all rules can be found on the internet)

My kids love the card game UNO.

The clock! Yes! But I still have no idea how to play! (I'm getting old!) I'll have a look for the rules on line. Thanks!

We love playing rummy and gin rummy with DS - we have been playing cards with him since he was about 8 I think (he's now 10).

He also likes Beggar My Neighbour (yawn), Cheat and Fish.

As a child I loved Racing Demon, but you need a pack of cards for each person and it takes ages to sort them all out afterwards...
