We haven't been to Barbados, but we have been to Antigua. The journey was much better than I expected - we took lots of paper, pens, playmobil people etc. and a portable DVD player. Dd was 3 when we went and coped brilliantly.

Are you staying in a hotel or apartment?

Make sure that you go to a hotel with a good children's club.

I can recommend Turtle Beach, which is on the South Coast. A small (ish) hotel, all inclusive, which is very family friendly, with a great kids club, and they will also provide babysitting too. (Not baby listening, but a proper baby sitter).

Right on the beach. Good food and decent accommodation.

We have been there several times. Flights with Virgin definitely the best, especially when it comes to dealing with children.
