Size of bag

Help me! Ds1 going to France for school trip in a couple of weeks. Need to get him a holdall.

He's going for 4 nights so need clothes for 4 days, plus washbag, towel etc..

We have very small holdalls or enormous ones. Been looking online, but very difficult to work out size of bag from picture.

Is 40l big enough or do I need to go bigger??

40L should be absolutely fine. I can fit all I need for a 2 week holiday in a 50L pack. You don't want it to be too heavy for him to carry.

Also, things like this with a detachable day pack are quite good if he is out and about during the day.
