Are children allowed to travel by train without an adult?

My brother is taking his kids camping next weekend, they live with their Mum. What they're wanting to do is for their Mum to put them on the train near where they live then my brother will meet them at the other end

Can they do this? They're 10 and 12 and quite happy to do it

Don't know for sure but I imagine so as some children go to school by train.

Who is going to check? You don't always get a guard.

there are no rules prhibiting it. if all concerned are happy then its fine.

DD(12) and her friend of the same age have just begun to do this. With mobiles, of course, and no changes along the way. They have been fine.

Great, thanks everyone

His 12yo DD has a mobile so he can certainly keep in touch with her, there are no changes on the journey

Thanks again
