We stayed in a cabin at a wonderful small site near Bodmin over Easter - about 20 min drive to Newquay. google Ruthern valley.

I wouldn't stay in Newquay. It is full of stag/hen parties who are getting drunk at 10am in the morning. It is truly awful!

Whats your budget? We stayed just outside Newquay at Bedruthan Steps Hotel though in August is probably very expensive and busy.

this is lovely www.watergatebay.co.uk/thehotel.htm

Wouldnt stay in newquay, much nicer places elsewhere, its my neck of the woods so if you need any information just yell.....

Padstow is cute too....

Padstow is really nice - I agree. The Shipwrights Inn does lovely grub! They do high speed boat trips for a fiver each from there too - kids loved it.

I know a barbie in Cornwall - is it you Pots?

We used to stay at

Tregenna House in Crantock.

But we haven't been there since it changed hands, so we don't know the current owners. It was gorgeous though and very close to a huuuuuuuuuge sandy beach (with rockpools too!).

Thanks so much everyone. Yes, your all right, Newquey isn't right at all. Off to look at all your suggestions! Was also thinking some where within easy reach of the Eden Project?!
