Car Hire in Majorca

Can anyone recommend a good car hire company in Majorca - we want to hire it from the airport and do not want to have to travel on a minibus to pick up the car.

try avis, most of the car rental companys are straight across from arrivals i would book it asap as last year we had a problem getting one.

We booked our car hire through holidayautos when we went to Majorca. They contract out to other local hire firms.

Be warned it seemed really cheap and we had a good sized car. But there were lots of hidden extras. (Which they claim not to have on their website)

The first was that we were charged 70 euros extra for a whole tank of petrol before we took the car away (rather than just filling up the tank when we returned which is what we have had to do before). We only used half a tank of petrol but got no refunds.

Then they take 300 euros for extra insurance which we had already paid for in the way of an excess waver when we booked the car (they said if there was any damage we would have to claim it back from holiday autos.) This had to be paid by way of a credit card and when we got the credit card statement we realise they had charged us an extra £25 in card handling fees!

Just remembered the name of the local car hire firm contracted by holiday autos in Majorca- it was Auriga. The service was dreadful too- the person serving us was unbelievably rude.

Shame really as we have used Holiday autos loads of times and they are usually very good.
