I need some inspiration for August - not Europe though and with 3yo and 6yo.....

OK, so I think I'm now in the position to book a holiday financially. We're restricted to school summer holidays and for that reason have discounted much of southern europe entirely because of the heat. (We went to Turkey in June last year and that was bad enough...)

I was all up for a cottage in UK or Gite in France with a view to saving money for next years ski trip BUT DH wants catered, warm and with a pool so that both dds can swim lots....

So - what are my options given dds ages and climate??

Any has anyone got any great recommendations of places they've been to before. Both dds travel well so long haul is also an option.....

We have had several hols in the Italian Lakes - it can be hot there but not as hot as somewhere like Turkey.

A couple of years ago we went to the Black Forest Area in Germany - which was a bit different. Beautiful scenery - not many places have own pool but all villages have open air lidos and you get a free pass as a tourist. Its very clean. All the little villages we went to also had really nice children's playgrounds, and walking trails (if you like that sort of thing).

We always go self catering so that we have the extra room, then eat out in the evening so we don't need to cook but get choice of places to eat. Best of both worlds!!
