Just returnbed from lanzarote. Paid £598 for 7 nights in a self catering appartment including flights from gatwick with first choice (2 adults and our 5 month old). I was expecting a high rise costa but in actual fact lanzarote is all low rise painted white and green with nice beaches and best of all - landscaped buggy paths everywhere!! Admittedly there is not much "culture" and it is difficult to get any food that doesn't have chips with it but if you are looking for somewhere cheap, hot and child friendly then this is it! Visited all the resorts with a hire car and the nicest seemed to be Playa Blanca. Also I had the easiest time at the airport - took my quinny zapp with attached maxi cosi car seat all the way to the aeroplane door, also took through cardboard cartons of formula and bottles of boiled water with no problem.
