Would like to go somewhere for a week in first week of June with dh, dd, ddog and have various other friends/family dropping in. So we need at least 4 pref 5 bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms/loos, nice garden, pref. walking distance to a pub, pref near sea, must allow dogs. Want something civilised, no swirly carpets etc IYKWIM. Swimming pool too would be good

Any suggestions?

Kennacott Court near Widemouth Bay is fantastic, I can't rate it highly enough.

Try Rural Retreats \link{www.ruralretreats.co.uk} they have lovely places that are tastefully decorated (no swirly carpets!) some have pools etc. Quite pricey but really recommend them!

Try National Trust Cottages, very civilised.

If you fancy something a bit different, try The Landmark Trust. They rescue buildings of historical interest, and repair them, using money from letting incomes.
Their properties include forts, manor houses, mills, cottages, castles, gatehouses, follies and towers (!). I doubt you'll get a swimming pool, but there'll definitely be no swirly carpets!
Another vote for Rural Retreats too.

landmark trust
