Anybody been to Morocco? Need advice about money!

I'm going to Morocco in 2 weeks, went into travel agent today to buy some travellers cheques but was advised not to take them as they can't be easily cashed!

The travel agent advised to take cash only - but is it safe to carry cash around with you over there? We're probably going to be taking about £600 between us.

Apparently there are ATM machines in the hotel but checked with my bank and the charge for withdrawing seems quite high!

Help! Any advice?

Safe to carry cash - just be vigilant as you would in UK.

I just don't like not having the 'protection' which you get with Travellers Cheques IYSWIM!

you'll be fine in agadir, with cards or travellers cheques. its only hard in more remote places. But take some cash with you to tide you over for a few days.

I've been to Morocco twice and took some cash and used cash card the rest of the time. Dead easy. Never tried travellers cheques over there but Agadir isn't the back of beyond so you should be fine with them. Morocco is great and we're hoping to go back next year, too skint for hols this year.

I was in Agadir last year at a fabulous hotel but they almost refused to cash my travellers cheques even though they were american Express ones.It gave me a few worries but they accepted them eventually.I would not take them there again.
