First holiday abroad with my 6 month old- any advice/tips?

We're going on our first holiday to Cyprus in 2 weeks with our 6 month old ds. Travelling with the in-laws to a friends villa which is apparently very child friendly and has a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine etc. I'm a bit worried about how he'll be on the plane but am hoping for the best.

I've made lists and think I have everything sorted but am panicking there is something I haven't thought of. Any advice or tips from seasoned travellers with dcs?

Take a full change of clothes for the baby and for you and your DH in your carry-on luggage for the flight. Baby could well chuck all over himself but equally possible is that he'll chuck all over you.

Is he still breast-fed? If so, try to feed him on take-off and landing, as it will help to equalise the pressure in his ears. If not, perhaps a dummy? The sucking action seems to help, but if he struggles on the way up, try him with a dose of Calpol before the descent starts - may help.

We took our then 10 month old on his first holiday to Greece and I bought half a dozen loose cotton t-shirts several sizes too big for him, They made a comfy, cool cover-up (over high factor cream of course!)

Buy a shade-a-babe for your buggy. A complete godsend, I promise you. (I should get commission from that company!)
If bottle feeding you can buy reusable microwave steriliser bags.
We took DS abroad for the first time at nearly 6 months and it was great.
Have a lovely holiday.
