Has anyone been to Pontins Brean Sands recently? How was it?

I wondered what kind of experience others had had because I looked at a few internet reviews and most say its filthy and shabby. I'm going on Monday because we won a 4 day break.

I haven't been, but imho pontins+brean=filthy and shabby, just keep in mind that it's free

LOL Yes at least its free! I think the childrens facilities are OK though [hopeful emoticon] I can cope with a shabby room but really hope it isn't filthy.

Dp went there two weeks ago with DS1 for a Minis rugby tournament ( easter weekend).

They payed extra for 'better' accom - DP described it as an 'absolute shithole'.
They came home a day early as it was so awful.

He said the apt smelt of damp and there was mould everywhere.

DS1 did enjoy the kids stuff though.

Sorry- probably not what you wanted to hear.

We went last year - paid extra for the best accom (Gold?) which was really nice.

kids stuff was OK.

I think its OK if you are the sort who like to get out and about a lot during the day.

At least its free but everyone I know who has stayed there in the basic accom has complained of it being dirty/stains on mattress etc.

If its not good you could complain - they may move you to better accom.

Good luck - hope you enjoy

We have upgraded to classic accom as opposed to basic (which was free). Basic is fine (as I'm ex forces lol I'm used to it!) If its filthy I will definately put in a complaint and complain at the time as well.

Wish us luck

went couple years ago expecting filth and guess what we got................. a spotlessly clean apartment!!! i did take extra sheets incase i needed to put them on the sofa or floor(had a crawling baby) but didnt need too.

best of luck

Just an update for anyone else going to Pontins at Brean
Accommodation was very basic as expected, reasonably clean though given the delapidated state of the chalets. Worn is how I'd describe it. We took our own bedding and ant killer, didn't need either!
The good news is that apparantly 60M is going to be spent between all the sites and major improvements should be seen over the next couple of years.
Loads to do for the children and we struggled to do everything (didn't manage it) in four days. Would recommend it for a cheap and fun break.
