Self-catering in Tuscany

I am spending FAR too long trawling variuos websites so thought I'd turn to you mn'ers for some inspiration...

Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice self-catering place in Tuscany (or Umbria)? Maybe near Greve? Just for the 2 of us plus 10-month-old DD so pool would be nice.

Also, we're planning to go in early September - will it be too hot for DD do you think?

Thanks!

This is a fab campsite that we have visited several times, near Greve.

I don't know if you would consider a campsite, this one is very good. They have a choice of several restaurants, great facilities, ice cream parlour. They offer bus trips into Sienna, Florence etc and they even have a lovely wine bar at the Villa Norcenni (or they did).

The Villa is set a bit apart from the rest of the campsite but you can use all the facilities.

Have you considered Le Marche, just over the appenines fom Umbria. We stayed at a great place just outside a medieval town called Sarnanowww.villasanraffaello.com. The scenery is stunning, the people lovely, local restaurants and shops fantastic and the weather should be ideal in September as its quite high up and gets good breezes.

Try www.directtuscany.com for some ideas. I'd echo Norwoodeye in that you'd be advised to move away from the beach or city areas to get some air. September will still be pretty hot, I'd suggest.

Might the French Alps work for you? We find the area to have a lovely climate - never TOO hot even in July/August - and the air is clean and cool. Views are stunning too
