Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum so hopefully I am doing this right!
I live in good old New Zealand and have an 18 month old son and my husband has just been offered a job in Chicago...and I am terrified!
Have any of you lived in Chicago and have any advice? Is it fabulous (I have heard good things) and best places to live??
Also any advice on travelling long haul with an 18 month old?
Would really appreciate it!

i lived there for a few months years ago - and had an amazing time. i stayed in both park ridge and oak park. oak park was a friendly area and had easy links to the city. it is a fab city (i prefer it to new york) it does get cold in the winter but gorgeous in the summer downtown near the lake. great shopping and if you like food the taste of chicago (food festival) in july is brilliant. sorry i can't offer any proper advice. there is a living overseas forum (in the homes and gardens section) that might be worth posting on. i hope you enjoy it!

My brother lives in chicago its a great place.
to be more accurate they live in the suburbs in a town west of chicago Downers Grove, they have also lived in Wheaton.
Impressed with the sense of community the suburbs have, good for families, dont know if you are more interested in the downtown area.
Good luck
