Staying with a friend this week but shes off to a wedding today so its just me and dd. And the rubbish weather!

She has no children so not many ideas for us.

Any suggestions gratefully recieved. I have a car

Whereabouts are you?

HopefulandHappy · 25/04/2009 09:24

Not far from Reading town centre Picante.

I have no swimming gear with us and am not keen on soft play

Depends if you definitely want to stay indoors - not sure what the weather is supposed to do! Beale Park is lovely - about 20 min from town centre but it is all pretty much outdoors. The LookOut is in Bracknell and that's an outdoor play area but also a fab science hands-on thing - about 25 min away.

If you don't want to go too far Reading Museum is free and is quite child-friendly with stuffed animals etc! There is also the Museum of Rural Life near the hospital which has lots of old stuff to look at (!) but also has childrens' toys out and an outdoor garden area.

Reading town centre is rubbish for children - no cafes with play areas or similar.

I'll keep thinking and get back to you.

HopefulandHappy · 25/04/2009 09:33

Thanks Picante not sure about the weather either, its not looking hopeful is it!

Reading Museum sounds good, dd loves stuffed animals, would appreciate any other suggestions you could come up with

Well the library is v close to the museum and has a children's section (obviously). That's as exciting as it gets for Reading town centre!

DevilsAdvocaat · 25/04/2009 09:47

this is on today. we're thinking of going with ds tommorrow!

HopefulandHappy · 25/04/2009 09:54

I find it a little shocking that a town as big as Reading is rubbish for little ones Picante. Its disappointing.

Devils that looks perfect
