Can anyone tell me roughly how much flights to Turkey cost for 1 adult and 4 DC?

My parents and brother live in Turkey.
They would really like me and my DC to try and visit either in the summer hols or the October hols.
But i have no idea how to look for flight or how much they cost as i haven't flown before.

I need to find out before i spend £250+ on passports!

They live in Turgutreis, Bodrum.

Please help me find a rough idea of prices.

TIA.

theres a flightchecker on moneysavingexpert.com flightchecker.moneysavingexpert.com/ and lots of comparison sites like www.skyscanner.net You could play about and see when suits best financially.

Tortoise · 23/04/2009 20:34

Thanks, couldn't see Turkey on the MSE one. The other ones for July/August is over £800+ in all. Way more than i can afford. Thought that might be the case.

Hi Tortoise
Which Airport do you want to fly from? How old are the DCs - if any of them are 12 or older they will be considered adults. How long to you want to stay and do you have any preference for dates? When do the DCs break up for their summer/October holidays? I will look for you or you could use either of these websites to give you a rough idea: Travel Republic or A1Travel

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 09:04

Thanks.
Probably be Bristol Airport.
DC are (or will be) 5,6,9 and 12.
Summer hols 25th july - about 8th sept i think. But doubt will be able to afford then.
Oct hol is 24th-1st nov.
Week in oct or 2 weeks in summer.

Thank you for helping.

E bookers is good. You just put all your details and desired dates in and they find you cheapest flight. Easy peasy.

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 10:21

Moondog yes they moved about 3 and a half years ago. haven't seen my Mum or brother in all that time. Spoke to them on Skype a few days ago which was nice.

Thomas Cook fly Bristol-Bodrum Mon and Fri.

here

...I think, though, that you would get little change from £1000

It may be cheaper to fly from Gatwick, even including travel there.

copycat · 25/04/2009 11:13

Hi Tortoise
Yes the summer holidays are expensive. Both Bristol and Bodrum are 'less popular' airports and therefore not so many flights to choose from. More choice between say Gatwick and Antalya and therefore flights tend to be a little cheaper. Anyway Bristol to Bodrum summer flights are about £1,500 for the 5 of you Sorry that's more than I was expecting to be honest. Even Easy Jet are pretty much that price before you pay extra for each suitcase etc. October half term isn't that much less to be honest ... I've only done very quick research as I have to go out shortly but charter flights from Bristol to Bodrum seem to operate on Mondays and Fridays so unless your DC's school has an Inset day they will need to miss a day at school. Flying on 26 November for 7 nights: £1370 for the 5 flights. Hope that helps a little but sorry it's not cheaper

copycat · 25/04/2009 11:19

The Thomas Cook flights are £1764.90 for October 26 and £1579.90 for 7 nights 31 July - 3 August ...

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 13:43

Thanks for your help.
Looks like a visit is not going to be possible.
Mum will be upset.

Sorry Tortoise ... maybe if you start saving for next year prices may be cheaper as you can book the flights as soon as they are released. Usually prices go up as availabilty goes down nearer the date of travel. Maybe your Mum, Dad and brother can visit you as that's three flights instead of 5 (unless your brother has DP and DCs of course).

One last thought ... can your Mum book the flights for you from Turkey; it might be cheaper although I'm not too sure how she would go about it ...

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 15:58

Thanks copycat. Unfortunatly they have no money so that isn't likely to happen.
Their fault for moving hundreds of miles away! (Sorry, get cross that they moved so far away!)

Have you tried the Turkish Airlines website?

I just checked and it looks like mid-July London-Bodrum return tickets look like they around £260-290.

CoteDAzur · 25/04/2009 16:22

Sorry, I just realized that you will be traveling with four children.

THY quotes £1,300 for 1 adult & 4 children in mid-July.

aGalChangedHerName · 25/04/2009 16:29

Would your parents not be able to visit you instead? Would be cheaper for them to come to you?

Hard for you all not seeing each other

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 19:44

Agal Unfortunatly they have no money.

OP posts:
CoteDAzur · 25/04/2009 20:05

Can't you send them some money so they can buy plane tickets?

Otherwise, have you looked at German budget airlines? They have flights to multiple destinations in Turkey because of the large Turkish migrant community living there, and would surely fly to London as well.

Tortoise · 25/04/2009 22:09

Thanks for ideas. They have pets so not sure if they could come here.
I give up! Not my fault they moved away!!
