We went away with Canvas a couple of years ago - great! Also went to Brittany, Carnac - lovely area!

McDreamy · 23/04/2009 21:50

WW is right though, very close to your neighbours. I do remember listening to snoring man a few nights in a row

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 24/04/2009 18:29

We have also been eurocamping in Holland over Easter. Great value for money and the DC's are talking about when we go next year. I would book a slightly more expensive caravan though next time.

I have been with both companies before and both are very good. But before you book, have a look at French Freedom. They are also very good but much, much cheaper.

Have fun!

usually go with siblu but am going with keycamp this summer so am watching this thread with interest

PortoPandemico · 11/05/2009 19:52

I've been with Canvas to Union Lido. It was fantastic but a huge site that must be crammed in peak season. Eurocamp have by far the poshest mobiles in my experience. We were going with them this year, but credit crunch meant I had to save a few bob, so we are going to lac des Reves with Siblu instead in a more basic model. Eurocamp wouldn't let me downgrade, or didn't have the availability.

The facilities on many of the sites are fab, and the kids clubs are a bonus.

I've been with Canvas (can use Tesco vouchers) for 8 years!!! fantastic!! mot are the same as others tho really cheap companies can have really cheap vans - eg mattews! Depends on how long you spend iside! As long as it's clean for sleeping/showering in etc!

ihatethecold · 16/05/2009 17:24

we now use vacancesoliel. after being with canvas for years , the quality is just as good but at half the price

RunningGirl · 16/05/2009 18:55

We have used eurocamp before but last time found the reps next to useless (van filthy when we arrived, despite being made to wait 3 hours for it to be cleaned amongst others) and since then have used eurocamp brochure / website to choose campsites (is pretty much a guarantee of a decent site) but then booked a mobile home / chalet direct with the campsite. Much cheaper and they do cot / high chair hire too.

ilovepeppapig, just wondered why you're not going with Siblu this year? Reason I ask is I've been with Eurocamp before but this year I'm going with Siblu as I can use my Tesco clubcard vouchers.

What I particularly fancy about Siblu is that the outdoor pools are heated whereas Eurocamp's are not.

ilovepeppapig · 17/05/2009 15:18

hi weepootle.

have been with siblu for 4 holidays. last 3 at the same site (le lac de reves) which we love. fancied a change and as i dont drive abroad i am limited to sites near to airports (so can get train or taxi)which aren't that many. after doing some research i found a site near rome and then looked on various web sites but only eurocamp and canvas were featuring this site.

also had a great holiday with siblu! which site are you going to?

MrsBartlet · 17/05/2009 19:46

We have been with Canvas for years but are using clubcard vouchers and going with Siblu this year. I am very excited to hear that their pools are heated especially as we are going to the Loire The last time we were there the weather was dreadful!

weepootle · 18/05/2009 09:44

Ahhh I see. Near Rome sounds fab. Don't know which site we're going to yet as dh hasn't got dates he's off yet. Will prob be heading for somewhere around the Vendee though .

its great if you like a holiday that goes like this

get up - take kids to kids club

come back to tent, quick tidy up

sit down with a book on the lounger ( maybe nod off)

realise its time to get the kids

pick them up, make a spot of dinner

french bread cirlcles, jam, cheese, make your own whilst siting at the table outside.

go to the pool for a bit as everything is shut in france until at least 2pm

at 4 et the kids showered and changed, walk into town(or drive into a nearby town)have a look around in true tourist fashion, find a larvelly restaurant overlooking the beach
pop that cork on a nice bottle of red.
order in very bad french and praise the staff for not laughing at you.

when back at camp, see what the onsite entertaimen is like - it can be butlinsesq but in good fun ....ooh it's mini disco and quiz.

kids dance and get prizes, run around inbetweent he chairs and pester for expensive ice cream and some euros for the salle de jeux.

your still drinking the larvelly red wine.

you go back to the tent, put the kids to beck - they are knackered its been a long day.

they sleep,

you go outside at the table and play poker for SFs ( or sexual favours )whilst still drinking red wine.

Tortington · 18/05/2009 09:59

if money is a problem - i promise you than venue is the cheapest - it doesn't have kids club though.

Tortington · 18/05/2009 10:01

eurocamp is the most expensive and is the same company as key camp! so i dont get it

key camp is middle priced and i would probably say go with them - they look after the kids like no ones business, there are lots of reps on site and they ae always willing to help and bend over backwards to help you out.

weepootle · 18/05/2009 12:48

Lol! Great post custardo.

Custy - that is MY kind of holiday!

Though we usually sneak in an afternoon nap . Those portable DVD players are such a great invention! Then maybe go out a bit later.....
