Terrible idea or possible? I think DS is too young and flight too long but DH insisting we go. Has anyone been there or somewhere similar with a baby of the same age?

Depends on the child IMO. I know ds who is 2 would be awful but a friend has just come back from OZ with her 8 month old and she was fine. They did travel business class though.

Much more possible while they're still immobile! We went to Cape Town when DD1 was 10/11mths and that was v. easy, same with going to Australia/NZ when she was only 5mths.

IF you're going to do long haul do it when they're immobile otherwise you'll have to wait until they past toddler age which I think is the worst!

We spent two months in Indonesia last July. TBH she was too young for the more gruelling bits, and found it quite hot. She turned 1 year while we there. She was too young to cope, not weaned off breast milk, not able to express herself as well as she can now, and not really eating properly (she'd be better now). We weren't expecting to have problems - our holiday in Grenada when she was six months was MUCH better.

But then in Grenada we stayed in more or less one place, she spent much of the time asleep. We also went to Turkey in May that was great too, because we just stayed in resort (full board) - restaurant, room, pool and beach all within a few minute sof each other. Of course you could do that in Bali too, but why? Why undertake 15 hours of flying just to stay in the resort?

I personally wouldn't recommend it, having taken 1, 2, 4 and 6 year olds to Indonesia. 2 is a much better age. I'd say 12 months is the worst possible age.
