I am likely to be holidaying alone this year without a partner but with 3 young children aged between 3 and 8 years old. There is also the slight chance my eldedst 2 children aged 10 and 12 will be wiht me as well ( otherwise they are holidaying with h). I will probably take au pair wiht me for support.

I quite fancy siblu as they look large and well organised.

i want to go to france as its easy to get too and i speeak passable french.

Haven't decided whether to drive yet or take flight but am favouring driving so can go ready equipped. park can be quite far south however as prepared to do overnight stay en route.

Can someone please make recommendatinos for parks? Prefer quite lively atmostphere and nothing too coupley or closed at night so i don't feel like a total freak being on my own !!

Thanks all

I've just booked up for Lac des Reves near Montpellier. I think Ryanair fly there though we will drive. The tripadvisor reviews were good. Kids clubs for all ages and a big pool, plus not too far from the beach. The area is very nice.

thanks portoeufino that is useful. Approx how much did it cost?

Anyone else please who has been to one of these camps?

We paid about 1200 quid for a 2 bed mobile home first 2 weeks in July. That's not too bad for the SOF I think and was similar to some of the Brittany/Charente Maritime sites. We originally planned to go to the Dordogne with Eurocamp and that was nearer 2000. Credit crunch and all that.....

Availability was getting tight in some places though, even for my non-UK holiday weeks, so I'd be quick to book up!

We have been to Domaine de Kerlann on the south coast of Brittany.

I think it was a good site. The pool area is very impressive and there is plenty of entertainment on offer. There are kids clubs, and lots of kids around generally (so can have pick-up football matches). There are lots of playgrounds dotted around. There are laundry facilities.

The area around is fantastic for beaches. There is so much variety within a short distance.

thanks both.

Anyone else been to any other of the sites?

Just found out it'll be nearly two grand for two weeks.....everything seems so expensive these days!!

You might also consider Centerparcs in France - similar budget but more robust accommodation.

hi, I sent to a Carrabasse in southern France last august for 10 days and it was lovely, one of the most relaxing and slow paced hols we've been on. My kids are 6 and 3 and they loved the pool which was excellent for little ones as just the right the depth for paddling swimming but they could still tocuh the ground - there was another pool for confident swimmers. We booked direct but got taking to people there and lots of te homes are owned by English so go on the net and search and you acn get really good deas.

babblington · 06/04/2009 21:15

la reserve is excellent

We have been to La Carabasse (twice)
Domaine du Kerlanne
Les Charmettes (twice)
Le Bois Masson

  • also with Siblu to El Delfin Verde, Le Vieux Port (twice) & La Sirene.

Plus various other sites with other companies.

Siblu are good, and their owned sites are great for the kids clubs etc.
