Thailand for 15 days - possibly on my own with DS and DD - where would you go?

We're stopping in Thailand on our way to NZ in July but there's a strong chance DH may not be able to come now because of work, which is a huge shame.

However, I would really still like to take DS 7 and DD 5 to Bangkok and a quietish beachy type place in Thailand so would appreciate advice. Had thought of Koh Samui or Koh Chang - definitely don't want to go to the Phuket-side coast. Any thoughts? What accommodation recommendations for there and also Bangkok please? Any help appreciated!!

It is a lovely resort and probably the nearest to bangkok, I stayed there many years ago and would say it is up market and friendly.

You can travel by train from bangkok or on coach, but would say that the dc would probably love the train trip.

Where are you staying in bangkok?

Thanks for that IK44. Hua Hin is one of the first "resort" places isn't it - we want to be close to where people are, but not right in the thick of things, if you know what I mean.

Nowhere booked yet in Bangkok - can you recommend anywhere?
