I am travelling to Nice in a couple of weeks and have a Bugaboo Cameleon to take. I don't really want to fork out over £80 for a transport bag tho!!! Does anyone know whether I will be able to wheel the pushchair up to the gate and then give them the seat and chassis?

I bought a cheap second hand one - no way was I risking my bugaboo in the plane hold. Most places you can take the buggy up to the plane door, but you will pick it up on the conveyor belt with all the other luggage

Have you seen how they throw things on planes?
Ask on freecycle and someone will prob give you one.
No way woudl i bring an expensive buggy on holiday, not unless I had a private plane and my staff loaded it on themselves

I've taken mine a lot - I always put the seat part in a black bin bag at the gate so that it doesn't get trashed/dirty in the hold

I've travelled all over the world with my Bugaboo ( and no travel case) and taken it right up to the gate. They do ask you to collapse it and then they take it out of sight!

The chassis was damaged once but the airline organised a brand new one to be sent within a few days.

I adore my Bugaboo and want to take care of it because it was expensive but I try to keep it all in perspective. What's the point in having such a marvellous machine if you're too scared of damaging it to make the most of it. I say take it with you, risk it and if any damage is done report it immediately at the bagage collection point.

I actually have the carry case but never use it because it's such a pita to zip up (anyone else find this?!). That's where the black bin bag comes in....

I agree DaisyD. I've only flown once with a Bugaboo and we just took it right up to the plane then handed it over to somebody. It was waiting for us on the tarmac when we disembarked. It was all fine.

I've flown with mine but in the travel case. I didn't find it a PITA at all, it zipped up no problem.

The good thing about the travel bag is that you can secretly stuff it with toys and other paraphernalia, and it doesn't count towards your baggage allowance....

Mine bloody did! But then I was travelling with Ryan Air.
