Barcelona - Grand Hotel Central or Miramar Hotel - has anyone stayed in these.

My 4 friends and are are planning a break to barcelona for a few days to celebrate our 40th. we are looking at these hotels, they look good but wondered if anyone had stayed in them. Advice appreciated. thanks.

I stayed at grand hotel central in 2007 for about five nights. It had been recently refurbished and was very comfortable, and was in a really good location, handy for the historic centre. The rooftop pool, although small, was lovely and had a great view. The only thing I would say against it is that it is that the decor is quite dark and modern, which is not to everyones taste although I quite liked it.

Hi Just saw this and had to post. I went to Barcelona with my DP (now my DH) in 2007 as well and we also stayed in the grand hotel central. Have to agree with flockwallpaper. Could have written it myself. We had a lovely time and I would happily go back to the same hotel. It is a little dark in the rooms but the remote controlled complete blackout blinds made an after lunch siesta very relaxing. It is clean, contemporary and smart. Very friendly and in a great location. There were some fantastic tapas bars close by. Just seeing this thread has got DH and me talking about going back again! Thankyou. Hope you have a fantastic holiday. Am jealous!!
