Am taking my 3 and half year old DS and 20 month DD on a 4 hour flight at Easter, I presumed most planes have a screen above the seats in front of you and you have a choice of films?? but most people seem to be saying this is rare you have one screen miles away! Is that true?

should we get a portable DVd player? Ds really does settle with some of his fave films, we have in car ones but they only seem to run off cigarette lighter?

Only time I've seen it is when I've flown longhaul with Emirates.

All BA, Virgin and Quantas have seat back screens. Who are you flying with ?

only on the posh planes lol. not if you're charter...
portable dvd player. we took a laptop but the battery died half way through the wiggles. tragic.

Have done lots of flights to Orlando/Tampa with BA and always had tv's in seats. Then one easter we had just one biggish screen -and what did they show? Erin flippin Brockovich ?????? The flight was full of bored restless kids !
How silly ? I mean adults will happily sit and watch the likes of Toy story etc but doesn't work that well the other way .

On a short haul flight you may not have individual screens. I would do the portable DVD thing if I were you.

On a short haul, I think it's much less likely, and on charters considerably less so. Look at the website of your airline, they will tell you and will often have playlists etc.
