I'm really stuck on ideas for a holiday location this year. We have two teenage girls who will be 14 and 16 this summer.
We are looking for a beach holiday, but want to be somewhere with some 'life' in the evening - not 'brits on the rampage' teenage pubcrawl nightlife, I am thinking more European bar/cafe culture, people watching type of nightlife.
Last year's holiday worked quite well, as we were staying in a small but lively town (Parge, in NW Greece), so we could walk in the evening to any number of restuarants and bars, and sometimes we were happy to let the girls go off on their own (jewellery shopping, and watching street artists) for a couple of hours. By day, we were happy to travel a bit further, by car or bus, to reach good beaches, and we took ourselves into the mountains on the Greek/Albanian border by car for three days to admire the scenery and villages,
Does anyone of know of any nice holiday spots that are reasonably lively, but not too scary, where we could stay in town but with beaches not too far away, and something to visit within striking distance? I'm thinking that, if we want to allow the girls some freedom, one of the quieter Med islands or perhaps Spanish or Italian smaller towns with some cultural history might be good?
TIA
