Travelling while 10 weeks pregnant

Hi - is there anything we should be thinking about when we fly to Taiwan as my wife will be 13 weeks pregnant when we fly out and 17 weeks when we fly back?
If this kind of question has been asnwered elsewhere - apologies!

It's not too much of an issue if she is fit and well, however check whether your travel insurance covers her to travel to Taiwan whilst pregnant (our annual travel insurance didn't). Only other advice is to drink plenty of water and move around plenty, because there is a slightly heightened risk of DVT I think . Maybe get get some flight socks?

Also, just in case...make sure you know where the nearest well equipped hospital is near where you will be staying.

talk to your doctor but I was advised to take baby aspirin when I flew to hong kong (was about 27 weeks pregnant at teh time) - it helps deal with higher risk of dvd - I think I had to take it for 5 days before and after I flew but I'd check with your gp/obstetrician/mw/

also loads of water before/on/the flight (at least 2 litres per 24 hours).

Thanks for all your advice - my wife is Taiwanese so knowing where the hospitals/doctors won't be an issue. Good idea re insurance, water and baby aspirin.

I went to Jamaica when about 10 weeks and Canada at about 26 weeks. Definitely check the insurance. The other thing I found was that it was useful to tell the air hostesses that you were pregnant, they gave me big 2 litre bottle of water and generally made sure I was ok. It definitely helped. The other advice I was given was to go the loo every hour, it makes you drink enough water and makes you get up and about.

Also if there is anyway you can stretch to business or premium economy do it, it will be worth every penny to her.
