Hillbilly - what are you looking for from a resort ?
The bigger complexes are down south - so if you wanted to leave there isnt really that much in the surrounding areas to walk to ,iykwim.Lindos,Pefkos and Lardos Village would all be a taxi ride .I would def hire a car for atleast a few days to get out and about a bit .

Moving further north there's Faliraki which has a great waterpark (big pool with pirate boat/slides etc for little people)Just along by the waterpark are some nice hotels Esperides seems a popular family unit.Think that area comes under Kalithea rather than Faliraki. You are near enough to Faliraki but also far enough away !

Then there's the north -Rhodes Town ,Ixia, Trianda etc . More built up especially Rhodes Toown which is the islands capital. Beaches arn't as nice as the east coast .

huge hijack - but stilla I too lived on Rhodes although it was 17 years ago since I moved there and 13 years ago that I moved back.

I lived about 10 miles south of Lardos, where were you.

Stilla · 22/03/2009 20:44

I lived in Lardos village for a little while- but Trianda was "home"

Furball · 22/03/2009 21:15

I didn't venture north very often! used to go with a friend who had friends in lardos, nice place.

Stilla · 22/03/2009 21:41

LOL-That island has a huge North-South divide!

Well more of a -if you settle there you are either very much a North person, a South person (or Faliraki!)

Lardos grew on me - and I really enjoyed the nightlife in Lindos oooh and the beach parties. 10 miles sth of Lardos?? Where would that be ?beyond Kiotari?was Kiotari there then?lol

I did prefer the North though-think that's alot to do with where you 'settle' when you first arrive.(and being a bit of a 'city' girl)

Stilla · 23/03/2009 01:02

ooh sorry Hillbilly just seen your post - Villas [hmmm].........think you are looking south then .
I will have a look n get back to you .

Stilla · 23/03/2009 01:21

I think most do seem to be in the south - lots restaurants in Lindos ,Pefkos and Lardos has a few nice ones.

As long as you have transport nothing is too far away -its not a huge island.

Furball · 23/03/2009 06:54

another hijack apology hillbilly - but at least we are bumping your thread

twas gennadi!

Kiotari wasn't a resort like it is now back then. There was only a handful of hotels and restaurants. Rodos maris and princess were built whilst I was there.

hillbilly · 26/03/2009 13:00

Thanks Stilla for that. And Furball - no probs!
