Sardinia in June....

Haribosmummy · 08/03/2009 22:10

... How hot is it likely to be?

I'm thinking of treating DH to an early birthday present, as we're expecting baby no. 2 in August, which puts a summer on hold, effectively.

I'd like to take him and DS (who'll be just a year) to the Forte Village... We've been loads of times before, but always in August...

What can I expect of the weather in June?

thanks, HM

shall rain constantly, wouldn't go if I were you, in fact give me the tickets instead and I'll swap you for a week in N.I with my PIL

Haribosmummy · 08/03/2009 22:14

Thanks DD - I'll bear that in mind!!!

Of course, I meant a summer holiday - the summer will happen regardless of my pregnancy!!!

We went to Forte Village in September - and it rained for 7 out of 10 days!! Still had a lovely time though.

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 22:23

you too hf128219

hf128219 · 08/03/2009 22:24

But I am Scottish!

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 22:26

thats even worse !!!

(where did you fly from/to then?)

I am happy with this years holiday destination of hell on earth suburbia stuffed into a too small house in nondescript town in Northern Ireland - I am you know

hf128219 · 08/03/2009 22:28

From Luton! Live down south now. You will have a lovely time in Norn Iron. I used to live there too!

Haribosmummy · 08/03/2009 22:28

Gosh - hf... We've been going there since 2000, with DH's daughters and have NEVER had one bad day there!!

DD - EasyJet fly direct to Sarndinia... It's a lovely place. there are flights from Luton and Edinburgh and (I would guess) most airports with other airlines..

from Edinburgh you say?!?!

hf128219m I know, I love NI, its just not fecking Sardinia is it now?!?

Portofino · 08/03/2009 22:32

We went to the Costa Smeralda in June for our honeymoon. It was hot, but not unbearably so. No rain. DD was about 15 months and had a great time in the pool/on the beautiful beaches. It was lovely. I want to go back .....

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 22:32

easyjet don't have that route

hf128219 · 08/03/2009 22:33

Ryanair are also starting flights to Cagliari in Summer 09 from Edinburgh.

Haribosmummy · 08/03/2009 22:34

Oh, not sure - it just came up on the Citalia website (flights from Edinburgh?) but I clicked Luton....

Portofino thanks - I was thinking that June might actually be a bit better for DS if it's not quite so hot...

dizzydixies · 08/03/2009 22:34

I hate Ryanair with a passion but I may force myself for that

Haribosmummy · 08/03/2009 22:36

remember to bring a quid in case you need the loo, DD!!!!

My parents fly RyanAir all the time (they live 50% in Ireland and 50% in England) and also hate RyanAir with a passion... Doesn't stop them using the airline constantly for the cheap flights though!!!

We've been twice in June and had lovely weather with the odd cloudy or windy day.Evenings cooler.Think a good British summer's day but better beach.

August is much much hotter though.

I prefer June.

francagoestohollywood · 08/03/2009 22:36

Incredibly, June can actually be hotter than August in Italy.
However, Sardinia tends to be windy, therefore it never really gets unbearably hot, unless Scirocco (wind from Northern Africa) arrives...

www.ryanair.com/site/EN/

Go on, go on, go on. You know you want to!

dizzydixies · 09/03/2009 09:43

haribo - we're the same unfortunately as DH from Ireland, my best friend lives just outside Dublin AND my lot in Spain are right next to Girona which is also ryanair from here

I just hate it though

hf128219 - I can just see the conversation

' hello MIL, how are you? whats that you say, holidays? you've got a sofa bed for the girls? well actually we're not coming, we're off to Sardinia but thanks anyway! Oh and btw, can we borrow a couple of grand so we can go? Many thanks '

not sure how thats going to go at all

Haribosmummy · 09/03/2009 10:39

Nah - Dizzy - while you are going for it, just ask for a couple of grand... No need to offer to pay it back!!!

dizzydixies · 09/03/2009 10:42

very good point

WetAugust · 10/03/2009 18:54

I was there in late Aug / early Sep and the heat was unbearable. Needed a sun hat (first time for me) and light cotton kaftan to cover bare arms otherwise was getting burnt to a crisp!

Can definitely recommend Nora - beautiful location, good beach, interesting ruins and a public loo!

Hersetta · 11/03/2009 11:55

I went in June a couple of years ago for our 10th wedding anniversary. Weather was gorgeous - not a cloud in the sky the whole time. Spent the days sunbathing and evenings in cropped trousers and a t-shirt with a light cardigan for later on.
