Yes, there are self catering villas - they're obviously more expensive but I've no idea of the cost because we bought one as a timeshare. You'd need to look at their website to get an idea of the cost.

I've also shared a room with a toddler or 2 and it's fairly dull TBH. The rooms have 2 double beds and a balcony but obviously you're tied to their bedtimes and have to sit on the balcony if you want to talk. The 2 bed villa we've got is fabulous as the children get shoved in one room leaving the master suite and the living area free for adult time. The kitchen has a hob and a microwave but no oven - TBH that's all you want. There are also suites but I think they're just a small living area in addition to the bedroom with no catering capability.

We have never gone all inclusive and have never spent the amount it would have cost us to do so. I think this is mainly to do with the fact that children limit your eating and drinking time! The cost of things like the watersports, tennis (except lessons) and (most importantly) the kids club are included in the cost of the room (although I see from their website that the Kids club is now from age 4). The all inclusive part just covers food and drink.

They've just completed a building programme so I think there are extra rooms, a new restaurant.

We went once on the recommendation of a Mumsnetter and liked it so much we bought a timeshare. We've been 4 times now and it's still fabulous.

I wouldn't be overly happy leaving a toddler in the room TBH. On our first visit, we'd only been in the room 20 minutes before I had to get Maintenance to come and free DSs (then 4 & 2) from the bathroom . They had to lever the door off with a screwdriver. [sigh]

How exciting! A thread with my OWN name in the title!
Sorry real life got in the way and I only just checked back to Mumsnet today. DS and DH are waiting for me to go out and have a Sunday Fry Up at the cafe, so I can't chat now, but thank you for the info, and I'll come back later tonight and have a good read of it.

Hi Soupdragon,
Thanks for all that info; I'm still looking at all sorts of accomodation out there, but bearing St. james Club in mind. TBH I don't think i could stand another sit quietly in the room or on the balcony while DS sleeps holiday; i.e. share a hotel room with him, so we're looking at cottages to rent too elsewhere on the island. We shared a hotel room with him there when he was a year old, and we sat out every evening on the balcony getting bitten to buggery by the mosquitoes while he went off to sleep in the hotel room.
Can't wait to get oto that turquoise sea though!
