Has anyone hired a roofbox?

They are so horribly expensive to buy and I've come across a company who hires them. I'd be very interested to hear of other people's experience of this if possible...

Never done this, but it strikes me that collecting & returning it would be a hassle unless the company is local.

We bought a cheapo Halfords one years ago. £30 or £40 as I recall. It's not as aerodyamic as the posher sorts, but as we only use it once a year so I'm not too bothered. If you are going to need one on a regular (albeit infrequent basis) I'd buy one. Or could you borrow one from a friend?

Or why not stick a note on freecycle asking for one - you could try 'WANTED - or to borrow' and you might get lucky.

We hired one when DS was tiny for a trip as he seemed to need so much stuff (well, us inexperienced parents thought he needed it all ). We got it from an AA shop in our nearest town - it was fairly easy as we just parked outside and they fitted it, then we did the same when we got back to have them take it back off. I can't remember what it cost though.
