We're looking for somewhere to stay near a lake, with a beach and lots for a 3, 5 and 6 year old to do, cycling/swimming etc, if anyone can suggest any areas in the Dordogne region (or any other nice parts of France for that matter) that fit the bill, I'd be truly grateful!! (Not Camping)

When are you looking to go? What is your budget? Have you tried Tots to France?

Do you want activities laid on (part of the package) or are you happy to go out and find things to do?

Arachon is quite nice- lots of lakes and forests. Plus loads of things to do.

Are you totally anti camping? We've stayed in several eurocamp sites in the dordogne but in mobile homes so we have own bathroom and toilet - not realy camping. They're all fab with great swimming pools with slides etc, playgrounds, shops and take away all on site. A couple are also on the river so you can do canoeing etc from the site. highly recommended!

Not anti-camping, but would like somewhere a bit more rural this holiday, but with something like an aqua-park etc within reasonable distance so that we can have some relaxation mixed with kiddie friendly day trips.
We're aiming for 2 weeks self catering in August.. will check out Arachon thanks!

Riberac is also very nice- Auberterre-Sur-Dronne is nearby, plenty of water parks along with river with beaches every few miles. HTH
