Hoping to go next week for an easy bit of sun. Children are 3 & 1. I think we want half board, 4 star, pool and play area for them, quiet (prefer no English pubs), small kitchen if poss. Any recommendations? We've no experience of the big resort thing, but willing to try it. Looking at other threads on here Lanzarote seems a favourite, but have been advised it's windy and because the temps aren't that high at this time of year, it can be a little cool, especially for swimming. How does Fuerteventura or Tenerife compare?

Thanks in advance for any help on this. We are going round and round in circles and risk not going anywhere at this rate!!

hi

i have been to tenerife, lanzarote and fuerteventura.

i wouldn't go back to tenerife again, we stopped at playa de las americas, it was very noisy, clubby, pubby place and not a good beach.

lanzarote we stayed in puerto del carmen and then the next time playa blanca, that was nicer than puerto del carmen.

but my favourite place is fuerteventura, corralejo. It has a lovely beach and has more family restaurants and more quieter pubs and bars and is very friendly, but it can get very windy. The beach is lovely golden sand and nice blue sea, but the current is strong.

Just back from Lanzarote...perfect warm weather for little ones...would check that the pool is heated or "acclimatised" as they say

We love Feut and Lanzarote, it is chilly in the evenings but pretty lovely (great for kids as not too hot) still. We last came back the week before christmas for Playa Blanca and it was heaven walking around in shorts whilst everyone at home was freezing!

You can also get very good all inclusive deals last min, we always do that now. How about first choice last min? Stick in your choice of airports and chose 'any canaries' see what you get (let us know we have prob stayed at most of them!!!)

I can't choose between corralejo and jandia in Feut and neither are busy at all!!

carrielou2007 · 26/02/2009 17:21

ps yes make sure you have a heated pool and the sea will be absol freezing (but fab for paddling!!)

Just had a quick look, obs not sure about your airport so put in Bristol (ours) and you could all go all inclusive costa calletta in feut great family place we've been to 20 mins from airport for 1315 for all of you. That the sort of thing or price wise what are you thinking??

Would you not consider Egypt? Half an hour longer on the plane but soooooo much better weather.

Other than that I can recommend, Torvisca or Fanabe in Tenerife. San Augustin, Maspalomas or Mogan/Arguinegin in Gran Canary. Or any of the resorts in Fuerteventura.

Just back from tenerife, two weeks ago tomorrow. Can't comment on anything other than weather but it was amazing.

We stayed in costa adeje which might still be a little too commercialised for you but I loved it.

We've been to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura - would have to say that I preferred Lanzarote. Stayed in Playa Blanca which is really geared up for families.
We got back form Fuerte on Valentines Day - weather was lovely - It is breezy, but as long as you bring jacket/cardigan for evening you'll be fine (There is no way to phrase that sentence without sounding like an old lady..)

just back from tenerife - puerto de la cruz, an old town on north coast (gentile and full of elderly germans on hiking holidays, not a clubbing resort). Really enjoyed it. Weather lovely, interesting and beautiful surroundings.
We have also enjoyed playa blanca on lanzarote - would recommend natura palace hotel - that's more of a beach resort but in a pleasant and low key kind of way. I'd imagine the weather would be fine, not scorching but pleasantly warm.
