What do you think? Hanoi or Saigon? Any tips or recommendations?

V v grateful thanks in advance. Travelling soon with three children, not tinies, but still a bit [erk] they will not be happy with non-stop temples!

Anyone? Do you think it is mad to take a 1 year old- even if staying in nice places and only going to 2 places ie Hanoi and a more beachy resort??

why not go to a beachy resort closer to home?

I've travelled in Vietnam with my dc (although they were a little older)

I'm not sure I'd like to cross the roads with a buggy (crossing the road anywhere in vietnam is an adventure in itself) so a carrier may be a good idea for your DD.

Saigon & Hanoi both have their ups and downs - Rough Guide can give you good unbiased views.

Nha Trang is a nice enough beach resort - we stayed here for a few days at the end of our big tour - but you need to request a beach front room.

If you do decide to go to Hoi An, this is a nice place to stay and very quiet. Hoi An is lovely and quiet & very historic. V easy to get around with small children - everything in the town worth seeing is very close together and there's very few steps and no traffic in the old town.

Do think about Hue too! Amazing place.

I'm very envious, have a great time!

Thanks for the advice and links. WE have decided to go and are sorting out the trip. we definitely are going to Hoi An- thanks for the link. This was one of the hotels we are thinking of. Thanks for the advice about the carrier- we will definitely take it. Luckily DD is small and happy in the carrier, so I think we will try to use that most of the time.

Starting to look forward to it now!
