Getting a car seat fixed in a camper van

We're thinking of buying a camper van soon for DH and me and DD (2.5) to use at weekends.

One problem I've come up with is that the one we are looking at (second-hand VW about 10 years old) is that it only has 2 lap belts on the bench seat. What does everyone else do about this?

Is it possible to get a 3 point belt retrofitted? DH says we must be able to get a car seat for DD that only needs a lap belt but I don't think these exist and would prefer a 3 point belt in any case.

Am hoping someone else has come up against this problem and has a solution all worked out for me!

We've got an oldish camper van - peugeot talbot. Looked into getting a 3 point fitted but told it was impractical - it probably depends on the type of van.

When she was a baby she was in the front seat - and me in the back - quite good actually as she could see me if I leant forwards. Now in a bigger seat - we bought a Britax one which fits 3 point and lap belt, so we use it in the car as a 3 point and a lap belt in the camper van.

I found I worry less about accidents in the van - I guess because we're travelling that much slower. Don't know if that is realistic or not!

Thanks for responding - I've checked some other threads too, and agree that a Britax seat fixed by a lap belt seems to be the way forward. Agree that we'll be travelling slower so less chance of accidents, plus there is more space around the seat anyway.
