Planning a holiday at the end of May and have narrowed it down to Sardinia, Sicily, Turkey or a couple of others at the moment. Have found lots of great, very reasonably priced villas to choose from but now have looked into flights the prices are coming out at £300+ per person. To Europe?? Have found a couple with Easyjet and Ryanair, for around £140, but both involve flying at 0615 which is a horrendous thought.

Are prices likely to come down closer to the time or are charter flights scheduled closer to the actual dates? Our flights to New York didn't cost that much!

I'd like to know who you flew to NYC with if it was cheaper than £300!!!!!!!

We flew to Italy (Turin) for about £70 return with BA in January.. Easy Jet were similar.

From experience, prices are more likely to go up as it gets closer to the flight date, unless you are prepared to travel stand by.

I like 6am flights

You get to your destination before lunchtime, just in time for a lovely cocktail and lunch on the terrace

Try a website that coordinates flights and villas. You might find something more competitive. Lastminute.com, Expedia, Holidayhypermarket, Teletext Travel, etc.

I've just booked for Bulgaria next month, half board, local flight, meal on plane, transfers, all in for £747. That's for three of us.

The deals are out there.

But then you have to be at the airport at about 5AM Ugh!

Our flights to NY came out at £272 with BA. I just doublechecked to make sure it wasn't wishful thinking on my part.

but that is good gina

I hate waiting around all day to get my holiday underway

'tis exciting to set the alarm clock early and arrive at the crack of dawn!

Desiderata · 16/02/2009 23:33

Nope! You have to be at the airport at 4am

I'm with anyfucker. The travel is all part of the experience. I don't care if I have to set the alarm at 1am. I love it.

Fortunately, so does ds.

My parents booked a big villa so that all our family could go away together cheaply and we have just paid £1000 for the flights Majorca during the 2 weeks school holiday in May/June. And we have to be at the airport for 4.30am!
