Barcelona with baby?

Going on first big trip with baby in a few weeks to Barcelona- she'll be just shy of four months. Does anyone have any suggestions for baby-friendly places, restaurants, activities? General advice? Tx

We found Barcelona to be entirely baby friendly even when he threw up in the bed and we had to have new linens, we only got a, well that's what babies do sometimes. DS was 9mths when we went. He wasn't very mobile, so we didn't have to plan anything around him at all.

The Spanish love babies (especially older female waitresses!) and a 4 mo won't need much in the way of amusement so you should be fine. You won't have to worry about highchairs either or finding food your DD will eat!

Nappy changing might be a bit more challenging. The toilets in bars can be really small and won't have changing stations. I don't think there are many public toilets either but if you are visiting a tourist attraction you should be OK. Failing that, do it on the beach/bench or back at the hotel.

Any pharmacy (look for green cross) should be able to sort you out with baby supplies (nappies/wipes, etc.).

We went to Barcelona when DD was 5mths and it was great. We took her everywhere, restaurants in the evening - not a problem and all the waiters were really accommodating, even trying to find slightly quieter areas so she could sleep...

I mustve gone to a different place!! I found it difficult to find any restaurants with high chairs and struggled to find anything on the menu that DS could eat. plus all the bars/cafes etc were really narrow and getting a buggy in there difficult.

The beach, park and zoo is really good though

I went to Barca when I was pregnant with ds, then again when he was 18 months old. I agree that in general the spanish do tend to love babies, finding "child friendly" facilities is pretty difficult. There are hardly any changing rooms/station, and I think the only place we found that had high chairs was the Hard Rock Cafe - no where else. Also as a general rule of thumb they dont open doors for you if you have a pushchair as usually happens in the UK. It is a lovely place however, and as your dd will be 4 months I'm sure you'll cope fine, they dont need much at that age

Take a trip on a boat from the marina, go on the cable cars, open top buses, park guell and the guadi house. Also if you can carry her in a sling - it'll be far easier getting around -the tourist areas can become very busy - epecially around dusk, and as mentioned earlier no one will move out of the way for you - I stopped apologizing for mowing peoples' ankles after the 2nd day - they think its strange
