How long is it taking to get a passport back these days?

I am in a slight panic - we go to America in 9 weeks and i have just relised that dd's passport expires in June. I'm pretty sure that you must have 6 months left on a passport to travel to USA.

Does anyone know for sure? Or how long it will take to get dd's replaced?

TIA xxx

We have found that it generally takes less than a week - no kidding.

We do the application online, where you fill in the form and they send back a typed one ready for signing. It mean they already have the data in their system, so basically just issue it when they get your form and the photo back.

Apparently you don't need to have 6 months for the US. If you present in the US with less than six months, the passport is automatically extended to give you six months. Worth checking this out.

We got ours back in about a week - that was a year ago - remember they may have slight delays due to the snow (depending on whether staff made it in)

we filled out the form manually and used the check and send service at the post office and got it back within 5 days. result!

Is it a replacement or renewal?
