first time was due to chicken pox. this time is snow related. my dh was driving home to us last night and he got stuck at 8.30pm on a hill on a dual carriageway. At 3 am he got assistance to get home but the car didnt!! so our brand new car is abandoned by the side of the road plus we cant get to the airport!!! do you think someone is trying to tell us something?!!

we are due to fly at 8.35pm tonight. we ciuld possibly get a train although would be v v vhard with 2 children under 4 and all our bags etc an a pushchair getting to station in the snow. but is it legal to elave a car abandoned by the side of the raod and swan off on holiday?? it is brand new and veyr nice so we dont want to lose it one way or another!!

Why don't you arrange for a tow truck/AA/RAC to pick it up and deliver it to your house! Get train or taxi to airport, enjoy your holiday and worry about the car when you get back!

yes we have tried to arrange that very thing but the road is actually physically shut at the moment so noone can get to it. we have tried to get our car specific assistance service to sort us out but all the subcontractors are too busy to help or cant be bothered. a local garage is saying they might just do it for us when the road re-opens. dont worry of course we have thought of all of these things!! which is why it is all so frustrating!! no taxis will drive at the mo as we have 6 inches of snow on the roads all around us

Looking at the weather - I doubt if the flight will be taking off - no point getting to Heathrow to discover the flight has been cancelled or delayed ...

Cape Town - I am so ..

nowwearefour · 02/02/2009 11:30

yes indeed. will be a good destination once we arrive!! the raod assistance people didnt manage to shift the car last night they tried as they could barely make ti up the hill themselves. we hope they will grit it soon!!

What kind of road has it been abandoned on? Is it a "quiet" road? Can be pushed into a side street or something?

Have you phoned Heathrow to check if your flight is still on?

nowwearefour · 02/02/2009 11:37

hi no is on a busy dual carriageway. have tried they said it was still on about 1 hr ago. we are trying to delay by 24 hours

hmm no i wouldn't leave the car while you're away.
could you give the keys to family/friuends and get them to move it later??

have you rung airline/airport to see if flights are still going?

nowwearefour · 02/02/2009 11:43

yes will try to give key to father. our best friends down our road wuld hav ebeen obvious but they chose to ruin the friendship when they bashed into our car at the beginning of jan then wouldnt speak to us when we said that we would like it to be fixed!!!! family live a little way away but hopeful local garage will do the thing we need them to do!!
