Help please on where to stay in France - drivable from Paris CdG airport??

The plan is for one set of grandparents and 2 families to rent a gite with a pool this summer.

All can fly to Charles de Gaulle Airport. We'd prefer to not to drive for more than a couple of hours to get to gite.

I've looked at the Champagne region and the Loire Valley.

Thing is I haven't a clue! Please help.

I would imagine the drive from Paris to Loire is still going to around 4 hours - by the time you have got out of the airport and around the paris traffic and set through to Loire valley it would take a while.

Samur is lovely in the Loire.

Would suggest though if you only want a couple of hours drive then stay just south of Paris. Fontenbleau(sp?) have heard is nice, just south of Paris.

Champagne region very dull.
Go to the Eastern Loire near city of Blois. There are some beautiful chateaux around there.
It's 2 hrs 15 from airport.

Thanks for the suggestions. I shall start investigating Fontenbleau and Blois.

Oh,and thanks for helping me rule out Champagne.

Hi,

We have a gite with pool in Normandy, west.

About 3 1/2 hours from CDG airport.

Have a look at our website.

We sleep 7 and have much para for babies / toddlers so you dont have to drag everything over.

Have a lovley holiday either way.

Saumur is well worth the extra journey in the car. So many things for the kids to do as well as the adults :-)
