Barcelona Hotels - Any suggestions?

Looking to have a long weekend away with some friends in Barcelona later this year and would like a nice, centrally located hotel. Have done a quick search on here for previous posts but cannot find anything up to date (ie within the last 12 months) that provides recommendations for a hotel (lots on things to do tho!)
Do you have any??? TIA

We usually stay at the colon regencia. It's right opposite the old cathedral (not sagrada familia) and is fab. 5 mins walk from las ramblas, placa real, 10 or 15 mins walk from the marina.

Have a good time! We're back for the 4th time in May.

We stayed here about four years ago, pre-DD. Not much to look at outside, but it was a lovely hotel, great value, plus in a great central location.

We would definitely stay there again.

'Tis nothing posh, but great for a site-seeing break.

we stayed in the Olivia Plaza last year - beautiful and centrally located.

Try looking on trip advisor.

We stayed here hotel cortes but booked it through Venere (via trip advisor site) trip advisor because it was cheaper than booking direct with hotel - weird but true! It is very central, clean with big rooms and you can leave your bags there on day of departure and collect them on way home. It is dead close to Playa Catalunya and the stop for the airport bus, which is by far the easiest and cheapest way to get into town from airport.

Have a good break!

Thanks for all the replies - we've booked The Montecarlo via Expedia - the fluffy white robes and electronically adjustable beds swung it!

Spent ages agonising about hotels - with DH chuntering on about me spending more hours on the net looking at them that the number of hours I'll be spending in Barcelona itself!
