tesco ?!

Simplysally · 28/01/2009 09:19

Sainsbury's or Carrefour.

It's just a big shopping mall, nothing too exciting there. There are a few wholesale/bulk buying stores, like tesco.
Exchange is poor at the moment so not sure wghat bargains will be had.

Where on the south coast are they going? I'm in east sussex/ kent border and could suggest a few days out etc

As far as i remember there is no where in Cite Europe that sells tobacco. In France you normally need to go to a Tabac, but i think some of the big wine and beer warehouses nearby sell tobacco and cigarettes.

Serious smokers I know actually drive to the Belgian border as apparently duty is lower in Belgium.

That said the various big (usually English run) warehouses around Calais also do tobacco.

having been to cite europe many times, you can't actually buy tobacco products in cite europe you need to go to calais town or another big warehouse.

there is a place on belgium border that is well known for selling tobacco and lovely chocs, but i can't remember the name.

thanks everyone!

I have since found out that supermarkets in France don't sell tobacco and there is no Tabac in cite europe

I found this on another site...

Why is there no TABAC at Cité Europe?
We often get asked this question. In France TABAC's are effectively a union. The sale of tobacco is also regulated. The number of TABAC's in a town depends on its population. The population of Coquelles is just 1,200 people so it is allowed one TABAC, hence no shop in the shopping centre.

Its a coach trip from Folkestone so no option to drive to Belgium so i guess dad will just have to buy his tobacco on the boat!

good site for setails of tobacco shopping in Adinkerke when I was with xh he would drive to belgium to buy fags as it was so much cheaper. Now it's me and kids we wre happy to buy loads of French food (all of us) and wine (me) from carrefour or tesco!! If you have time compare the prices between both supermarkets - we found there was quite a difference for the same wines when we went in oct. You can google belgian shops in Adinkerke re fags/tobacco - some gave you voucehrs to print off for free wine/brnady/chocs. you can also pre order IIRC.
