We are planning to take my 7 yr and 3 yr old daughter to the Algarve during the summer break. Does anyone have any recommendations of self catering villas/ best family friendly areas in the Algarve?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm researching Portugal for an April break. Not been myself yet but....
For areas - Tavira (East Algarve) seems good - lovely looking town (Old buildings, nice beach), nearby waterpark, swim with dolphins place, steam train round the town, only 90 mins to Seville if you fancy something for the grown ups.
For a villa - owners direct have loads -so prices are reasonable.

When we stayed in the Algarve, we used individual travellers. web sight.

We found an independent villa with a pool, it was fab! Would thoroughly recommend them.

I would avoid Villamoura - we went with young children and didn't find it overly child friendly.

Albufeira on the other hand was lovely

Also, we booked through James Villas and although the villas are lovely, unfortunately all of them seem to require a car to even buy a litre of milk.

Thank you for your advice - am finding the internet research quite daunting when I look up child friendly areas - is really helpful to have recommendations - so thank you for your help x

We went with Travillas (twice!) and both times stayed in lovely villas in or near Guia (not far from Albufeira).

Beaches are nice but the water can be cold, as it is Atlantic. We tended to stay in the villa and swim in the pool.

There is an aquapark, Zoomarine and we found the area really child friendly.
