We are a family of 5 - myself, husband to be! and 3 daughters aged 15 (soon to be 16), 10 & 4. We want to get married (its about time really!) abroad this year (July/August time) and are thinking of Rhodes. Can anyone suggest any hotels that would be suitable for us all? I am going round in circles looking in the brochures! Would preferably be 4star, all inclusive & not too remote!

Any suggestions gratefully received, if not in Rhodes, then maybe another greek island or maybe Cyprus?

Thank you very much in advance!

I love Rhodes! We have been going for the last 9 years and are returning again this July.

There is a beautiful chapel in Lindos (I think its Lindos) called St. Pauls chapel. We go to Faliraki (it has a bad reputation that it doesn't deserve ) Your eldest DD would love it there!!!!

Lindos is a beautiful part of the island...I dont know about the hotels there but because of the chapel there must be some hotels that do a kind of 'wedding package.'

I will email my friend who lives and works in Faliraki because he and his 'now' wife got married at St Pauls a couple of years ago. Will come back with his reply if he can recommend a good hotel.

......forgot to say the weather at that time of the year is absolutly glorious - long hot sunny days!

This may be of some help

Thanks for your speedy replies, will have a look at the links in a minute!

It's so hard trying to find somewhere to stay that suits us all and that doesnt cost an absolute fortune!

I've seen St Pauls Chapel in the brochures, does look gorgeous! x

I just talked on FBook to a dear friend who lives in Faliraki. He is a waiter at the hotel we go to. This is how he wrote his message

Me: Nikos, do you know of any good hotels in Lindos.

Nikos: Is all very gud places. Very butifully hotels (think he meant beautiful) and good places for eat and drink too much. The chapel is most nicest and when I stop being with all this cheeky Eenglish girls I will marry good greek girl at this same place.

Rhodes is gorgeous. One of my favourite islands. Lindos is very nice but there are lots of lovely hotels on the island in other locations too. We love the Rodos Palladium - very good for kids... 5 star though... Cyprus also great (in parts - very built up in some areas). Love the Meridien in Limassol there (again 5 star).....

Karen03 · 26/01/2009 12:00

Shabster, the reply from Nikos has made me laugh! Snackattack, thanks, 5star might work out too expensive for the 5 of us but i will have a look at those hotels.

Any other suggestions please?!

My (English) friend who lives in Rhodes is in Orlando on holiday so I cant get a reply from him, about the best hotels in the area, for about 2 weeks.

Thomas Cook and Thompsons do a full wedding package in their brochures if that is of any help.

slayerette · 28/01/2009 10:19

What about this company?

Might be tricky to do it all yourself...

thomascook.co.uk/content/holidays/weddings/wedding-holidays.asp

Scroll down to near the bottom of the page where the wedding information is

slayerette · 28/01/2009 10:19

Or this one?

slayerette · 28/01/2009 10:21

Looking at that last site, I want to get married again (to DH again, obviously ) just so I can do it there!

Lindos is such a beautiful place. It is typically Greek. Tiny little winding roads, loads of little shops, restaurants, bars etc etc. We get on the local bus, along with people going to work, and an assortment of children and animals!!! and travel the hour journey from Faliraki to Lindos. We stand out like sore thumbs as tourists but it is a brilliant journey.

The Greeks are the most nosey race of people that I have ever met!!! They are genuinly interested in knowing your life story!!! They also get a big kick out of the fact that we are going to Lindos for the day independently and not paying the reps a small fortune for the arranged trip

Ooohhh I am homesick for Rhodes now - roll on July

Karen03 · 28/01/2009 12:39

Thanks once again for your replies. I really like the look of Rhodes but finding it extremely difficult to get a hotel suitable for the 5 of us! How can it be so hard to find somewhere?! I thought getting married abroad would be an easy option, but not so!

I will keep looking...
